Pictures

The logo, the favicon and the preview picture (an owl at night over a chessboard) are generated with artificial intelligence.

Chess pieces

The pieces on the chessboards are the piece set “cburnett” by Colin M. L. Burnett, as also used on lichess. They are under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later, and are used unchanged.

Licence text: GPL-2.0.txt

Positions

The basic positions of the principles are common endgame knowledge, set up here as positions of our own; the study by Georges Barbier and Fernando Saavedra (1895) is in the public domain. The pages show 9 positions.

Chess engine

The site delivers the chess engine Stockfish in the version stockfish.js 19 (Stockfish 19 lite, WebAssembly). It is under the GNU General Public License, version 3, is delivered unchanged and, when used, runs entirely in the visitors' browser; no data is transmitted.
